🎬 ROLE: DEEP BACKGROUND — AIRPORT

This is the group we discussed in the casting call that Production is using to help fill out the frame and make the scene feel like a BUSY ATLANTA AIRPORT.

This is NOT the same group as the specific featured Airport roles already booked for this day.

There are other groups working on 9/21 who have specific roles, will be closer to camera, and/or are featured and important to the scene.

THIS booking is specifically for our DEEP BACKGROUND Airport group.

You will be used to help create the overall airport atmosphere and fill in areas of the frame.

And yes, this is the one where we said:

You will be working deep background and are not being booked to be prominently featured or seen up close on camera.

Because of this, working this day does NOT burn you for CHALLENGER.

You can absolutely be considered for and work other roles / dates on the series.

Location will be NEAR DOWN the Georgia Dome *Downtown Atlanta.

👗 WARDROBE — VERY IMPORTANT

For this specific deep-background group, Production is keeping things extremely simple.

You will NOT be going through the normal full Hair, Makeup and Wardrobe process that many of our other CHALLENGER roles do.

The goal is for you to arrive as close to camera-ready as possible.

Please bring whatever wardrobe options you have that could reasonably work for the 1980s Airport world.

We know this casting call was specifically opened up to people who may not have the perfect CHALLENGER period look, so please just do your best with what you already own.

Costumes may make a quick adjustment if needed, but you should expect that they may simply choose the best outfit you brought and send you to set in that.

Please see boards below on what they will be looking for you to bring with you - we understand you probably don’t have 1980s clothing in your closet so just do the best to create what they are going for.

Again, you are being booked specifically for deep background.

Production is not planning to put this group through the normal Hair & Makeup process.

👗 COSTUME NOTES :

If you have already gone through a Costume fitting, please remember to bring EVERYTHING the Costume Department asked you to bring back for filming, including any specific items they fitted you with or asked you to provide yourself.

Please also remember your proper undergarments for your assigned wardrobe.

And one very important thing for everyone: please arrive clean, freshly showered and ready to work. ❤️

💇💄 HAIR + MAKEUP PREP — PLEASE ARRIVE READY

Our Hair + Makeup Departments have put together detailed reference guides for you below. Please take the time to review the information that applies to you before you arrive for filming.

You do not have to be a professional at doing period Hair or Makeup. We just need you to follow the prep instructions as closely as you can and arrive ready for the departments to finish and perfect your look.

💇 HAIR — EVERYONE

Please arrive with your hair fully prepped in the way the Hair Department has requested.

MEN: Please arrive with clean, completely dry hair with NO product in it. Be prepared for Hair to make any period-appropriate adjustments or haircut needed for your look.

WOMEN: Please arrive with your hair ALREADY SET using hot rollers, foam rollers or Flexi rods, depending on your hair type and what you have available at home. The Hair Department notes that smaller rollers create more of the 1980s texture they are looking for. Please also bring a small bag for your rollers after the stylist removes them.

And please do not stress if you have never set your hair this way before. Hair specifically understands there is a learning curve and their stylists will help you improve and make sure you are camera-ready before you go to set.

🧔 MEN — FACIAL HAIR

For this booking, we want our men to arrive prepared as follows:

MUSTACHES: KEEP YOUR MUSTACHE! If you currently have a mustache, please do not shave it off.

BEARDS: Please SHAVE YOUR BEARD before arriving (leaving the mustache for us).

SIDEBURNS: KEEP YOUR SIDEBURNS LONG. Please do not trim them short before filming.

The department’s period references show that mustaches and longer sideburns are absolutely appropriate for the era, while clean-shaven looks are also common depending on the character.

PLEASE DO NOT make a dramatic facial-hair change beyond these instructions unless Casting or Hair specifically asks you to. IF YOU ARE SCARED BRING YOUR SHAVING KIT WTIH YOU.

💄 WOMEN — MAKEUP

Please arrive with your makeup already completed in the way the Makeup Department has requested for your period/look.

This is period makeup, not modern social-media makeup. The Makeup Department’s guides emphasize realistic, lived-in period faces and specifically warn against modern trends like laminated brows, severe contour, glass-skin/highlight, crisp modern wings and obvious modern lashes.

For the 1986 look, the department is going for a clean, polished daytime face, not a nightclub or modern glam look. Their references call for a more period-appropriate finish with stronger eyes/lips where appropriate, while still looking believable for the character and setting.

Please arrive fully makeup-ready so the Makeup Department can make any final adjustments rather than having to start your entire look from scratch.

💅 NAILS

Please review the Nails + Polish guide carefully and make sure your nails work for the period.

Plain, natural nails are ALWAYS a safe choice.

Please avoid anything that reads obviously modern. The department’s nail references show period-appropriate shapes and colors varying by year and character.

If you have fake, acrylic or press-on nails that look noticeably modern, please be prepared for them to need to be cut down or removed so they match the show’s period directive.

✨ PIERCINGS + JEWELRY

Please remove ALL facial piercings before arriving to set.

Please also leave trendy, expensive or sentimental jewelry at home. We do not want you wearing anything that looks too modern for the period, and more importantly, we do not want you misplacing something special to you while working on set.

If jewelry is needed for your character, Costumes will help guide the look.

Please wear the undergarments you plan to wear on your filming day, including bras, T-shirts/undershirts, underwear, etc.
DO NOT arrive at your fitting without underwear and/or a bra, when applicable.
