🧊 ICE TEAM
These background performers will portray members of the NASA ICE TEAM, helping create the world around Shuttle operations.

These background performers will portray employees of Johnson Space Center.

We are casting people to portray NASA Examiners involved in astronaut testing.
MEDICAL EXPERIENCE IS A BIG PLUS — BUT NOT REQUIRED.
You are not being hired to actually practice medicine.
You simply need to believably portray someone working in that environment.
If you have real experience as a:
Doctor • Nurse • EMT • Paramedic • Medical Assistant • Therapist • Technician • Medical Student • Healthcare Professional

That kind of real-world familiarity can definitely help seal the deal.
✈️ CO-PILOT

We are casting someone to portray a Co-Pilot.
Actual pilot or aviation experience is NOT mandatory, but it is absolutely a plus.

🧹 KSC JANITOR
🎥 FILMING: Tuesday 9/22
We are casting someone to portray a KSC Janitor within the Kennedy Space Center world.
Real custodial, facilities or maintenance experience is not required, but if you have it, please let us know.
We are primarily looking for someone who visually and naturally fits the role.
👋 KSC + NASA FAMILY GREETERS
We are casting people to portray KSC / NASA Family Greeters, helping create the welcoming side of the NASA world for astronauts and their families.

🚀 NASA GREETERS
There is also a separate NASA Greeter role within the NASA / KSC world.
These background performers will help create the welcoming, public-facing side of the NASA environment.
You do not need professional greeter or hospitality experience. We are looking for people who naturally come across as warm, friendly, professional and approachable.
Experience in hospitality, guest services, airlines, events, hotels or customer service is definitely a plus, but not required.

🏊 JSC LIFEGUARDS + SWIMMING ROLES
🎥 FILMING: Sunday 9/27
We are also casting people to portray JSC Lifeguards and other swimming / water-based roles.
You do not necessarily need to currently work as a lifeguard, but you should be:
Comfortable around water • A good swimmer • Comfortable treading water
Real lifeguard, swim-team or aquatic experience is a major plus.

We are casting background performers to portray guards / security personnel within the JSC world.
Real security, military or law-enforcement experience is NOT mandatory, but it can absolutely help.
If you have relevant experience, tell us about it in the form.

For these roles, we are looking at the TOTAL PACKAGE:

And, when applicable, your real-life experience

But if you genuinely know the environment, terminology, posture or behavior because you have done something similar in real life, that can make you look especially believable on camera.

Costumes will also provide a specific list of clothing, shoes and/or accessories to bring from home, and we would LOVE your help with this! The more period-appropriate options we have to work with, the better we can build this world together.
✂️ HAIR + FACIAL HAIR
If you’re interested in working on CHALLENGER, please STOP cutting your hair at this time! Longer, grown-out, natural hair gives our Hair & Makeup team much more to work with when creating authentic 1970s and 1980s looks. The same goes for facial hair — let it grow!
There are A LOT of different types of roles we’ll be casting throughout this production, and we promise: if your hair and/or facial hair is right for the period and what we’re looking for, we will find a spot for you on this one!

CHALLENGER is a limited series inspired by the true story of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, exploring the people, ambitions and decisions surrounding America’s space program in the years leading up to the 1986 tragedy and its aftermath.
Spanning the 1970s through the late 1980s, the series is set against a transformative era in American history, from the evolution of NASA and the Space Shuttle program to the culture, fashion and everyday life of the period.
Casting TaylorMade is seeking MANY different types of background performers to help us tell this story as authentically and historically accurately as possible.
And you know how much we LOVE creating an 1980s world! We’re bringing it 110% for this production, and we’d love your help making this world as authentic as possible.
