CHALLENGER is a limited series inspired by the true story of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, exploring the people, ambitions and decisions surrounding America’s space program in the years leading up to the 1986 tragedy and its aftermath.

Spanning the 1970s through the late 1980s, the series is set against a transformative era in American history, from the evolution of NASA and the Space Shuttle program to the culture, fashion and everyday life of the period.

Casting TaylorMade is seeking MANY different types of background performers to help us tell this story as authentically and historically accurately as possible.

Casting TaylorMade is currently searching for male look-alikes for several real-life NASA astronauts for the upcoming series CHALLENGER.

These are potentially recurring roles throughout Season 1, so we are looking for talent who closely resemble the individuals pictured and who may have flexibility for multiple filming dates throughout the season.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You do not need to be an exact duplicate, but we are looking for men who have a strong overall resemblance in:

Facial features
Hair / hairline
Facial structure
Build
Overall appearance

Please look carefully at the reference photos provided and submit for the person you feel you resemble most.

IMPORTANT: If you are applying for one of these roles, please DO NOT cut your hair or shave.

Period-appropriate hair and facial hair are extremely important for these looks. If selected, Hair/Makeup may need to alter, trim, or shave facial hair depending on the specific person you are portraying, so please leave your current hair and facial hair as-is unless Casting TaylorMade instructs you otherwise.

POSSIBLE FILMING DATES

Current possible filming dates include:

10/4, 10/28, 11/3, 11/5 + 11/20

There will also likely be additional filming dates throughout Season 1, which is scheduled to film through February 2027.

PLEASE NOTE: The 11/3–11/5 timeframe may require filming in Savannah, GA. If selected for those dates, hotel accommodations will be provided, and there will be additional paid travel days for travel from Atlanta to Savannah and back to Atlanta.

Travel-day rates and hotel accommodations would be in addition to the applicable filming rate.

These roles are expected to be recurring throughout the season, so recurring availability is a major plus.

You do not necessarily need to be available for every date listed in order to submit. Please provide your most accurate availability in the application.

AUDITION / SELECTION PROCESS

Because of the nature and potential recurring status of these roles, selected candidates may be asked to audition or provide additional photos/video before final casting decisions are made.

Please make sure the photos submitted with your application are current and accurately represent what you look like today.

FITTING

A mandatory costume fitting will be required prior to filming.

Fitting Location: Assembly Studios | Doraville, GA
Fitting Rate: $28/2 hours

Fitting information will be provided once selected.

FILMING RATE

The final filming rate is currently TBD due to the nature and potential status of these roles.

For scale/reference only, our look-alike roles are typically around $200/12 hours, with overtime when applicable.

Final rate will be confirmed before booking.
